Interested in running a business? Love numbers and want to find out more on how money works? This is the course for you! Commerce explores how financial decisions are made. Whether it be within the household, business decisions on production or the selection of Governmental funding for services for the population. Through exploring the different perspectives of stakeholders students will be able to explain the economic decisions have an impact on everybody's lives. This course is dependent on a minimum number of students enrolling for 2025. |
Course Overview
Term 1
Demonstrate understanding of an organisation’s financial decision-making
Students will be investigating an organisation and explore different financial decisions. Stakeholders and required outcomes of the financial decisions will be discussed in class with guidance on how to reach a conclusion on where money should be spent or redirected. Possible organisations that could be explored include businesses, schools and households.
Term 2
Demonstrate understanding of price determination for an organisation
Following on from the work in Term One, students will be exploring the different factors involved in setting the price for goods and services. This would involve looking at the expenses and market research to determine the value of different products.
Term 3
Demonstrate understanding of how interdependent financial relationships are affected by an event
Students will be involved in a case study of an organisation's response to an event. This could include a financial cost like the increase of petrol or dairy products or a change in supply of products due to natural disasters. Students would be able to explain the decisions made by their chosen organisation on the interdependent financial relationships and the impact it had on different stakeholders.
