HSCI 200

Level 2 Health Science

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms C. Philipo.

Level 2 Health Science

HSCI 200

We will look at biology and chemistry as a foundation for health sciences. There is a large practical component to this course. We will look at anatomy of different organisms which will involved dissection and using microscope to study microorganisms. We will also learn about the basic of chemistry such as identifying ions using qualitative methods.

- Carrying out practicals to examine chemistry qualitatively

- Using microscope to study microorganism

- Learning about structure and function of gas exchange systems in insects, fish and mammals.

Optional external credits for specialised Health Science career pathways will be offered from the second half of term 2. These will include:

- Learning about atomic structure and bonding or organic chemistry

- Learning about life processes at a cellular level or genetic variation
