Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms L. Jagusch.
This is a practical course and provides students with the ability to develop skills and knowledge of contemporary and traditional art practice.
- Develop drawing and wet media skills - pencil, ink, shellac, collage, painting
- Explore image making as a visual language - create a sequence of work that connects and develops ideas.
- Produce a workbook and portfolio - the workbook supports the external portfolio - this is used to explore new techniques and trial ideas for a finished work. The work book will include observational drawing and painting, planning for resolved works and artist research.
Course Overview
Term 1
Work book
Drawing and Painting using a variety of media
Observational Drawings learning how to record objects with accuracy
Term 2
Applying learning from previous term, creating compositional sketches, paintings and prints. Locating objects that relate and express your interests, culturally, spiritually and intellectually. Referencing Artist's that compose and technically create artworks that relate to student learning.
Work book and Portfolio work.
Term 3
Developing a systematic body of work extending ideas from Term 1 and 2. Completion of the Portfolio. This may include drawing, painting, printmaking, small sculptural works.
Term 4
Completing workbook drawings and research for 1.2 Internal standard or undertaking extended work into a resolved and finished work.
Pathway
This is an important foundational Art course which provides essential learning and understanding of Art processes and techniques

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Total Credits Available: 20 credits.
