Course Description

Students develop and enhance confidence in their cultural identity, improve social connections and civic participation, and the benefits of being bilingual cognitively.


Language Knowledge and Cultural Language focus

This course will lead and to be continued at Vic. University for a 3 Yr. BA degree.  Students will need to express and justify their own opinions, to support and challenge others, through their spoken presentation, interaction, and two pieces of writing.  They are able to use and identify Samoan language and cultural forms that guide interpretation and enable them to respond critically to different texts and cultural events, e.g. Taligāmalo I le ‘Ava, etc.  

Course Overview

Term 1
Give a clear spoken presentation i Samoan that communicates a critical response to stimulus material

Term 2
Interact clearly using spoken Samoan to explore, and justify ideas and perspectives in different situations

Term 3
Write a variety text types in clear Samoan to explore and justify varied ideas and to justify varied ideas and perspectives.
To prepare and revise for DGA school exams at the end of the term.
